Inland Communities

Lake Nacimiento

Lake Nacimiento, California

Lake Nacimiento, population 2,500,  is an 18-mile long reservoir lake and a haven for waters sports enthusiasts. The lake is bordered by Paso Robles and Bradley - which is in Monterey County. The lake provides ample room for water skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, and other water-related activities.

San Miguel

Historic Mission

San Miguel, population 2,336, is located on the northern edge of San Luis Obispo County and was established in 1797  with the Mission San Miguel Archangel.  This, along with the Rios Caledonia Adobe are the epicenter of life in this small rural town.  The Mission offers self-guided tours daily and Mass is still held at the mission.

Paso Robles

Paso Robles, CA Vineyard

Paso Robles, (El Paso De Robles) population 31,918, offers a vibrant historic downtown and is the central hub for North San Luis Obispo County.  Named "The Best Wine Region in the World!" by Wine Enthuiast magazine in 2013, the small town feel remains as the popularity to surrounding ranches, vineyards and  farms grows.  Paso has become the destination for wine country and fine dining.  Community events include the California Mid-State Fair in July, Pioneer Days, and an ongoing assortment of art and wine festivals in the downtown city park.

Templeton, population 7,674, was the last stop for Southern Pacific Railroad in 1889. It has retained the feel of an "old  west" town and has become a popular choice for residents with top rated  schools. Olea Farms, owned by olive oil experts Clotilde and YvesJulien is one of our favorite Templeton destinations for olive oil tasting (lemon EVOO is my favorite).

Atascadero, California

Atascadero, population 28,814, offers local eateries and movie theaters in downtown Colony Square. They also recently re-opened their historic dome-topped city administration building, which will once again house city offices, City Council chambers, and the Atascadero Historical Society museum in time for their centennial celebration.

Santa Margarita

Santa Margarita, population 1,300, is located in the  foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains, and is one of the most rural areas in San Luis Obispo County.  Santa Margarita Lake, a major water source for San Luis Obispo, is located several miles southeast of town on the Salinas River. Zip lining and 4x4 adventures are a great way to explore this valley.
